Policy Title: Classified Employee – Qualifications, Recruitment, and Selection Code No.: 461

 

Recruitment and selection of classified personnel shall be the responsibility of the administration. Persons interested in a classified employee position will have an opportunity to apply and qualify for classified employee positions in the school district without regard to age, race, creed, color, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, religion, disability, or genetic information. Job applicants for classified employee positions will be considered on the basis of the following:

 

  • Training, experience, and skill;
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain effective working relationships with peers, students, and supervisors/subordinates;
  • High degree of self-motivation, innovation, and persistence;
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems and remove roadblocks by working with all levels in the organization;
  • Nature of the occupation;
  • Demonstrated competence; and;
  • Possession of or ability to obtain licensure or certification if required for the position.

 

Announcement of the position will be through means the superintendent believes will inform potential applicants about the position. Applications for employment may be obtained from and completed applications will be returned to the central administration office. Whenever possible, the preliminary screening of applicants will be conducted by the administrator who directly supervises and oversees the position. Names and salaries to be paid shall be presented at the next meeting of the board for approval by the board (temporary summer and vacation help excluded.)

 

Employees are required to sign release and authorization forms allowing the school district to perform background checks/re-checks and/or fingerprint checks/re-checks on employees.
